All seemed mostly normal, nothing had followed him from what he could see. Heavily panting with every labored breath, Adrian didn't notice the pokemon that came gracefully fluttering over to him, as if to offer him aid or comfort. Instead, as it flitted over to him fancifully, he lashed out at it out of fear.[break][break]
It gave a modest cry in greeting that Adrian's arm flailed towards in a haphazard swing, buffing the pokemon away from him with the blunt strike, causing it some mild discomfort. As his eyes caught up with it, he realized his mistake just moments too late, now caught in the sights of an enraged togekiss. It was almost adorable, really; except the creature's strength was potent enough to knock him on his ass. It crashed into his gut, knocking the wind out of him as he fell to the ground, while it deftly finished the maneuver with an elegant loop-de-loop.[break][break]
*Hack* *Cough* *Huff* Adrian steadied himself on one knee and the heel of his palms placed against the soft grass, trying to rise to his feet before the pokemon came back. Only for it to knock him down on his rump once more, much to his discomfort. A-ow... A hand gently ran the small of his back and down, attempting to sooth the bruising skin.[break][break]
It was at this moment that Adrian's tyranitar, Iconoclast, released itself from its poke ball (whether it had been activated by how he fell to the ground, or the pokemon freeing itself willfully, he didn't know.) Before the paltry togekiss, this monster stood dauntless, not that the pokemon didn't try to continue its righteous assault. It soared for the tyranitar, faster than before—[break][break]
—Except it had almost no visible effect, smacking against Icon's forehead with a dull thud that left it momentarily staggered. As it slowly slid off the pokemon's armor and towards the ground, Icon drove an elbow against it's limp body, sending it careening over beyond some hedges. And that was that.[break][break]
"Th-thanks." Icon seemed unresponsive, instead returning to its poke ball.[break][break]
With the battle out of the way, Adrian decided to go and check up on the togekiss, only to find it badly wounded beyond the hedge. When it saw him, it shrieked, but its shrill cry was not followed by a swift reprisal. Instead it only struggled vainly, which Adrian found regrettable. He plucked it off the ground and decided to bring it with him, rather than leave it for the scavengers.[break][break]
And with that, he was back on track to Mauville.
